What an amazing time we have had in the past couple of months. Busy, but in a good way. The 8-week intensive onboarding period with our 2nd batch companies was finalized in the end of May, when we invited our partners to meet them at our Winds of Change event. Startups heard about City of Helsinki plans and opportunities from Testbed.Helsinki, City Executive Office and Urban Environment Division, Buildings and Public Areas as well as Traffic and Street Planning. They also pitched their own solutions to inspire the city representatives for a more sustainable future.
Startups also got to pitch their ideas to investors and stakeholders at the major startup event of the season in Finland, Arctic15, in the beginning of June. Bloft, Eeneman, Ekotekt, Hidas and Locia did a great job on Aalto Startup Center’s booth, making valuable connections. In our own workshop on the first day, we went through the investment landscape of urban tech and engaged our startups 100TM and VacuumWood.Tech (VIS) in a fireside chat about the opportunities they see for their startups.
Startups from urban farming also had a chance to mix and match with over 60 people eager to change the status quo of the food system. Together with our partners University of Helsinki Viikki Food Design Factory, Kiuas, Founder Institute, Aalto ES and more, teams like our 1st batch companies Blokgarden and VacuumWood.Tech (VIS) had an opportunity to pitch.
The work for sustainable cities does not stop at Urban Tech Helsinki, even though the summer is here, and Helsinki is starting to turn on the holiday mode. We are launching our 3rd call and to mark the occasion, we would love to see you on our summer get-together on Maria 01 courtyard on June 30th. Come and enjoy good food, music and good company and meet our startups and networks!
